Oh! How I Used To Scribble

Paper.
Pen.
Journal.
Notebook.
Shopping list.
Concert ticket (past, reverse)
Envelope (old letter's shell)
Envelope (full, fat of unwanted letter)

The implements of record.  For letters shaped and
words tumbled unbidden or coaxed delicate to
sit orderly or be scratched out and
formed again and again-

I can't even imagine

Students, melancholy under oak trees in Albert Park,

Scrabbling away at future iPad memories.

Where- like my dusty trunksfulls
of scribbles- do they keep them once
the magic is
     teased out spell-checked formatted
     font-happy (smooth and seamless amendments,
as if that lower case letter never had been a Capital,
as if THAT word had never ever even been there)
captured?
